What Visa Types Can I Get at This Embassy?
The Embassy of Ukraine in Dhaka issues both short-stay and long-stay visas to Bangladeshi nationals. The visa type you need depends entirely on your purpose of travel and length of stay.
Type D — Long-Stay Visa (90+ days)
The Type D visa is the correct visa for anyone intending to work, study, do business, or join family in Ukraine for a period exceeding 90 days. It is issued in four main sub-categories:
- D-employment: Requires a valid Ukrainian work permit issued by the State Employment Service and a signed employment contract with a registered Ukrainian employer. The work permit must be in your name and for the specific employer.
- D-student: Requires an official university acceptance letter from a state-accredited Ukrainian institution. UGC verification of the university may be required for BMET clearance purposes.
- D-business: Requires company registration documents (extract from Ukraine's Unified State Register of Legal Entities) or an investor document demonstrating active business activity in Ukraine.
- D-family: Requires proof of relationship to a Ukrainian citizen or lawful TRP holder — notarised and apostilled marriage certificate or birth certificates, plus the sponsor's TRP or citizenship documents.
Type C — Short-Stay Visa (up to 90 days)
The Type C visa covers tourism, short business visits, and transit. Some C-type applications for Bangladeshi nationals may be handled through VFS Global Bangladesh rather than directly at the embassy. Check the current VFS Global Bangladesh page for appointment availability and applicable fees. A Type C visa does not authorise employment in Ukraine — see the FAQ section below.
How to Book a Consular Appointment
The Embassy of Ukraine in Dhaka operates on an appointment-only basis. There are two routes to securing an appointment:
Email the consular section directly
Send an email to emb_bd@mfa.gov.ua stating your full name, passport number, visa type you are applying for, and your purpose of travel. The consular section will respond with available appointment slots. Response times vary — allow 3 to 7 business days for a reply.
Include your contact number and preferred appointment dates in your initial email.
VFS Global Bangladesh (for applicable visa types)
VFS Global operates as an outsourced visa application centre for Ukraine in Bangladesh. For Type C short-stay visas, VFS Global may be the primary submission point. Visit vfsglobal.com and search for Ukraine visa services in Bangladesh to check current availability and book online.
VFS Global charges a separate service fee on top of the consular fee. Keep your VFS appointment confirmation for your records.
Processing time after a successful appointment submission: 10 to 21 working days for Type D visas. Type C visas may be processed faster. The embassy may request additional documents at any point during processing, which can extend the timeline.

Important: The Embassy Is the Final Decision-Maker
The Embassy of Ukraine is a sovereign government institution. No BAIRA-affiliated agent, no Bangladeshi recruiter, no third-party immigration company in Bangladesh, and no self-styled "visa consultant" has any influence over embassy decisions. Any agent claiming "embassy contacts" that will speed up or guarantee your visa approval is lying — and is almost certainly running a fraud operation.
If you have paid money to an agent based on a promise of embassy influence, report this immediately to BMET (Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training) and file a complaint with Bangladesh police. Keep records of all payments made — screenshots of transactions, receipts, and written communication.
Common Visa Refusal Reasons
Understanding why visa applications are refused helps you avoid the same mistakes. These are the most frequent grounds for refusal cited by Bangladeshi applicants:
- Incomplete or missing documents. The embassy will not process an application with a missing required document. Even one missing item — such as medical insurance or the apostilled police clearance — results in rejection without review of other materials.
- Work permit not verified or not genuine. If the work permit cannot be verified against the State Employment Service database, the embassy will refuse. Fake work permits produced by brokers are rejected at this stage.
- Doubts about intent to return to Bangladesh. The embassy must be satisfied that a Type C applicant intends to return. Insufficient ties to Bangladesh — no property, no family, no employment — are a common ground for refusal.
- Incorrect or outdated application form. Submitting an old version of the application form, or filling it in incorrectly, is a common and entirely avoidable cause of refusal. Download a fresh form from mfa.gov.ua before each application.
- No medical insurance or insufficient coverage. Ukraine requires a minimum of €30,000 coverage. Insurance with lower coverage or a policy that excludes Ukraine is rejected.
- Financial proof insufficient. Bank statements showing insufficient funds, or statements that appear inconsistent with stated income, raise doubts about the applicant's ability to support themselves during the trip.
