Ukrainian Embassy in Dhaka — Full Address
The Embassy of Ukraine in Bangladesh is located in Banani, Dhaka. The consular section handles D-type long-stay visas (employment, study, business, family) directly. C-type short-stay tourist visas may be referred to VFS Global. For work permit applicants, the D-type employment visa (D/EM) is the relevant application.
The consular section window operates in the morning only (9am–1pm). Arrive on time — late arrivals may be asked to reschedule. Do not rely on walk-in access: appointment slots are required and must be booked in advance.
Getting to the Embassy from Dhaka Neighbourhoods
The embassy is in Banani, which is accessible from most Dhaka areas within 20–45 minutes depending on traffic. Dhaka traffic is unpredictable — allow extra time, especially for morning appointments.
For early morning appointments, book a ride-hailing service (Pathao, Shohoz, Uber) the evening before — scheduling a morning pickup reduces risk of delays in finding a vehicle. Keep the embassy address in Bangla and English ready to show the driver.
VFS Global Bangladesh — Appointment Booking
VFS Global operates as the authorised visa application centre for Ukraine in Bangladesh. For most applicants, the Ukraine visa application process runs through VFS rather than directly through the embassy — VFS collects biometrics, accepts document submissions, and returns passports after processing.
Booking process via VFS: create an account on vfsglobal.com, select Ukraine, select Bangladesh, choose your visa category, and select an appointment date. Available slots appear in the online calendar. Book as early as possible — slots for morning appointments fill quickly.
VFS does not make visa decisions. They collect and forward your application to the embassy. Processing time counts from the date the embassy receives your file — not the VFS submission date.
What to Bring — and What NOT to Bring
Bring
- Valid MRP passport with at least 18 months remaining validity — original only
- Completed and signed visa application form (downloaded from MFA Ukraine or VFS)
- Two recent passport photos (3.5×4.5cm, white background, taken within 6 months)
- Original Ukrainian work permit from State Employment Service (DSZ)
- Invitation letter from Ukrainian employer (original or notarised copy)
- Employment contract in Ukrainian + certified Bengali or English translation
- Travel health insurance covering Ukraine (minimum €30,000 coverage)
- Bank statement (last 3 months) or other proof of financial support
- Consular fee payment receipt (paid at the VFS window or separately as specified)
- Medical fitness certificate from a BMET-approved medical centre
- Police Clearance Certificate from Bangladesh CID (apostille not required — consular legalisation)
Do Not Bring
- Food or drinks — not permitted inside the application centre
- Bags larger than small handbag/document folder — many centres have bag storage restrictions
- Photocopies as substitutes for originals — always bring originals and copies together
- Documents that are not on the checklist — submitting unrequested documents can slow processing
- More than one person per appointment — do not bring additional family members unless they have their own appointment
Original documents only: The embassy and VFS both require originals for verification. Certified true copies may be kept for submission if the original must be returned (e.g. work permit if the employer needs it back), but confirm this requirement with VFS for your specific category before the appointment.
What to Expect at the Visa Window
The VFS application process for Ukrainian D-type visas typically follows this sequence:
Check-in and queue number
Arrive 10–15 minutes before your appointment. Check in at the reception desk with your appointment confirmation and passport. You will be assigned a queue number.
Document review at the counter
The VFS officer reviews your document package for completeness and correct format. They will flag missing or incorrectly prepared items at this stage. If documents are incomplete, you may need to reschedule — this is why pre-submission document review matters.
Biometrics collection
Fingerprints and a digital photo are taken for most D-type visa applicants. This is quick — typically 5 minutes at the biometrics station.
Fee payment and receipt
The consular fee and VFS service fee are paid here if not already done online. Keep your payment receipt — you will need it when collecting your passport.
Application reference and tracking
You receive an application reference number to track status online via the VFS portal. Processing time for the D-type employment visa is typically 10–15 working days from embassy receipt of your file — though it can vary.
Passport collection
Your passport is returned — with visa if approved — at the VFS centre or via courier. Confirm the collection method at the time of submission. VFS charges a separate passport delivery fee for courier return.
BMET Dhaka
The Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) head office is in Dhaka. Workers must obtain BMET Smart Card clearance before departure. The main BMET office:
Bring your original passport, Ukrainian work permit original, employment contract, D-visa, and medical fitness certificate from a BMET-approved medical centre. Processing takes 3–5 business days from complete document submission. The resulting Smart Card is scanned at the airport on departure.
