Visa-Free Status
Bangladesh does not have a visa-free arrangement with Ukraine. All Bangladeshi nationals require a visa to enter Ukraine, regardless of purpose or length of stay. There are no electronic travel authorisations (ETAs) for Bangladeshi passports for Ukraine.
Visa Types Relevant to Bangladesh Applicants
| Type C (short-stay) | Up to 90 days, tourism or business visits. Cannot be used to work. |
|---|---|
| Type D (long-stay) | For employment, study, or family reunification. Required before applying for a TRP. |
| Transit | Passing through Ukraine to a third country. 24–72 hours maximum. |
For most Bangladeshi nationals pursuing lawful work in Ukraine, the relevant document is a Type D employment visa, which requires a valid Ukrainian work permit issued before the visa application.
Where to Apply from Bangladesh
The Embassy of Ukraine is located in Dhaka. VFS Global operates as the visa application service for Ukrainian visas in Bangladesh. Applicants must book an appointment through VFS Global and submit biometrics in person. There is no postal submission option.
The VFS Global centre in Dhaka handles the initial document collection. Processing is carried out by the Embassy. Applicants from Chittagong, Sylhet, Rajshahi, and Khulna must travel to Dhaka to submit applications in person.
Standard Document Requirements
- Valid machine-readable passport with at least 6 months validity
- Completed visa application form (signed)
- One passport photograph meeting current specifications
- For Type D employment: original Ukrainian work permit issued by the State Employment Service
- For student visa: official university enrolment letter on institution letterhead
- Proof of accommodation in Ukraine
- Return ticket or onward travel proof
- Bank statement showing sufficient funds (typically last 3–6 months)
- Travel insurance with minimum €30,000 coverage
- Consular fee payment
Common Rejection Reasons
Ukrainian visa applications from Bangladeshi nationals are most commonly refused for the following reasons:
- Incomplete or inconsistent application documentation
- Work permit not verified as genuine by the State Employment Service
- Insufficient proof of financial means
- Previous overstay in Ukraine or another Schengen/EU country
- Invitation letter from a non-registered Ukrainian entity
- Travel insurance that does not meet Ukrainian requirements
- Prior visa refusals from EU or neighbouring countries (must be declared)
Processing Time
Standard Type C visas typically process in 5–10 working days from submission. Type D employment visas may take 10–21 working days depending on verification requirements. Urgent processing is available at additional consular fee.
Note that consular processing time is entirely separate from work permit processing time. A work permit takes 30–60 working days before it is issued — only then can you apply for a Type D visa. Plan total timelines accordingly.
