What Is a TRP?
A Temporary Residence Permit (посвідка на тимчасове проживання — TRP) is a document issued by the State Migration Service of Ukraine (DMSU) that authorises a foreign national to reside in Ukraine for a defined period. It is not a work permit, and having a TRP does not by itself authorise employment — a work permit is required separately for employment-based TRPs.
TRP Grounds Available to Bangladeshi Nationals
| Employment | Requires a valid Ukrainian work permit. Most common for Bangladeshi workers. |
|---|---|
| Study | Enrolment at a state-accredited Ukrainian university. |
| Business | Founder/director of a registered Ukrainian LLC (TOV) with active business activity. |
| Family | Spouse, parent, or adult child of a Ukrainian citizen or permanent resident. |
Application Documents
Required documents vary by ground, but all TRP applications require:
- Valid passport with at least 18 months remaining validity
- Completed DMSU application form
- 8 passport photographs (35mm × 45mm, against white background)
- Proof of the residence ground (work permit, university letter, company registration, marriage certificate)
- Proof of registered address in Ukraine (rental agreement registered with local authorities)
- Medical insurance covering Ukraine with minimum coverage
- Criminal record certificate from Bangladesh (apostilled and notarially translated)
- State fee payment confirmation
DMSU Appointment Process
TRP applications are submitted in person at the local DMSU migration centre. Appointments must be booked through the DMSU electronic queue system (iQueue or the DMSU portal). Walk-in applications are generally not accepted at most Kyiv offices.
Initial biometric data — fingerprints and digital photograph — is collected at the DMSU. The permit card (a residence card in credit-card format) is collected in person after processing. The first TRP typically takes 15–30 working days to produce after a complete application submission.
Duration and Renewal
Employment-based TRPs are typically issued for 1 year and are renewable as long as the work permit and employment remain valid. Business-based TRPs may be issued for up to 1 year initially, renewable upon confirmation of continued business activity.
Renewal applications must be submitted no less than 30 days before expiry. Failure to renew on time results in illegal stay status, which carries fines and can result in deportation and a 3-year entry ban.
