Applying for a Ukraine Visa from Rajshahi

Rajshahi is in northwestern Bangladesh, approximately 250 km from Dhaka. The Ukrainian Embassy — the only one in Bangladesh — is in Gulshan-2, Dhaka. All Rajshahi applicants must travel to Dhaka to submit a visa application. This guide covers what to prepare in Rajshahi, how to make the journey, and what to expect at each stage.

Critical fact — read first

Any agent in Rajshahi claiming they can process a Ukrainian visa or work permit locally is making a false claim. Ukrainian visas are issued only at the Embassy of Ukraine in Gulshan-2, Dhaka. Ukrainian work permits are issued by the State Employment Service in Ukraine. No private party in Rajshahi has authority over either process. See our scam dossiers before engaging with any Rajshahi-based Ukraine recruiter.

Which Visa Type Applies — Type D (Long-Stay)

Bangladeshi nationals working in Ukraine need a Type D long-stay national visa. The Type D work visa is issued against a Ukrainian work permit from the State Employment Service (DSZ). The work permit is arranged by your Ukrainian employer in Ukraine — you cannot apply for a work permit yourself from Bangladesh.

Students applying for Ukrainian universities need a Type D student visa, supported by an acceptance letter from an accredited Ukrainian institution. Both types are submitted to the Ukrainian Embassy in Dhaka.

The Only Ukrainian Embassy in Bangladesh — Dhaka

Bangladesh has a single Ukrainian Embassy, in Gulshan-2, Dhaka. It is the only place in Bangladesh where a Ukrainian visa application is accepted. There is no Ukrainian consulate in Rajshahi, Khulna, Sylhet, or Chittagong.

Step-by-Step Process for Rajshahi Applicants

01

Your employer obtains the Ukrainian work permit

The work permit application is filed in Ukraine by your employer with the State Employment Service. Processing takes 45–60 business days. You receive the original permit. Only after receiving the original permit do you begin the visa application process.

02

Gather all documents in Rajshahi

Complete medical fitness check at a BMET-approved centre in or near Rajshahi. Arrange certified translation of your employment contract and invitation letter. Collect your bank statements (last 3 months), prepare two passport photos, and complete the Ukrainian visa application form. Apply for a CID police clearance certificate from Dhaka — this can be applied for by post. Allow 2–3 weeks minimum for document preparation.

03

Travel from Rajshahi to Dhaka (250 km, 5–6 hours by road)

Confirm your embassy appointment date before booking travel. Shah Makhdum Airport in Rajshahi operates direct flights to Dhaka (40–45 minutes). Silk City Express and Padma Express trains take approximately 3.5–4 hours. Road via the N5 highway takes approximately 4–5 hours. Stay near Gulshan or Banani in Dhaka — both are close to the embassy in Gulshan-2.

04

Attend embassy appointment and submit documents

Arrive at the consular section between 09:00 and 12:00. Present your complete document set. Biometrics are collected at this stage. You receive an acknowledgement of submission. Processing begins on the day of submission — typically 5–15 business days. You are not required to remain in Dhaka during processing.

05

Collect visa — second Dhaka trip or courier

VFS Global offers a passport return by courier service — confirm availability at the time of submission. If using courier, you do not need to return to Dhaka for collection. If collecting in person, plan your second Dhaka trip approximately 15–18 business days after submission to allow buffer for processing.

06

Complete BMET Smart Card clearance

With your D-visa and original work permit, attend the BMET Rajshahi office for Smart Card (pre-departure) clearance. Alternatively, this can be done at the BMET head office in Dhaka if you are collecting your passport there. Processing takes 3–5 business days from complete document submission.

07

Travel to Ukraine and register within 30 days

On arrival in Ukraine, register your place of residence and apply for a Temporary Residence Permit (TRP) at the local State Migration Service (DMSU) office. This is mandatory within 30 days of entry.

Local Scam Warning — Rajshahi Agents

Scam alert

Rajshahi has established recruiting agencies operating for Gulf and Southeast Asian markets. Ukraine is a less common destination in this area, which makes it easier for fraudulent agents to operate without scrutiny. Typical scam patterns: a Rajshahi agent claims they can process a Ukrainian work permit directly without involving your employer in Ukraine; an agent shows you what looks like a Ukrainian visa or permit without your passport having left your hands; an agent guarantees visa approval. None of these are how the process works. Ukrainian work permits are issued in Ukraine. Visas are issued only at the embassy in Dhaka. Anyone claiming otherwise is either uninformed or deliberately deceiving you.
